Portuguese Colonial Architectural Marvels

Basilica of Bom Jesus

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. Built in 1605, this Baroque masterpiece features intricate carvings and the famous "Miraculous Cross". The statue of Infant Jesus is renowned for its life-like expression.

Se Cathedral

Largest church in Asia, built in 1562 to honor St. Catherine of Alexandria. Known for its massive bell "Voice of God" (largest in Goa) and the "Miraculous Cross" that exudes sweat and blood. Manueline architecture with Corinthian columns and gilded altars.

Church of St. Francis of Assisi

Constructed in 1661, features Gothic and Baroque styles. Houses the relics of St. Francis Xavier temporarily. Known for its wood carvings, murals depicting life of St. Francis, and the beautiful cloisters with Baroque paintings.

UNESCO Recognition

Declared World Heritage Site in 1986 as "Churches and Convents of Goa". Represents finest examples of Portuguese-Manueline architecture and Indo-Portuguese art in Asia.
